Associated Charities of Lenawee County has served the Lenawee County community since 1912. Local citizens representing churches, businesses, and local service agencies attended a meeting in December 1912 to "associate" so that individuals and families in need could be served in an efficient manner. Associated Charities was born on December 6, 1912.
Since the inception of Associated Charities, volunteers collected and distributed used clothing and shoes. This included distributing new and used clothing and shoes for school. Another role since the beginning has been the distribution of food baskets and toys and gifts for the Christmas holiday.
Our focus continues to be on the basic needs of our community. Our mission: To enhance the quality of life for Lenawee County residents by respectfully offering items generously provided by the community.
The "Daily Distribution" program is the day to day operation of receiving and distributing items such as clothing, furniture, shoes, appliances, and other household items to low income families in Lenawee County. On average 50-60 families are seen each day.
Our clients are served with a staff of five and many volunteers. We are an agency making positive changes to ensure that we continue to serve those most in need well past our 100 year anniversary
We are proud to be able to provide all items at "no cost" to our registered clients.
Registration requirements:
Photo ID (driver's license or state ID), proof of household income (pay stub, tax return or benefit statement), birth certificates for children and proof of residency (utility bill).
